Walking Around The Barranco District, Lima, Peru

There is lots of fresh, tasty and inexpensive fruit to be had all over Lima.

There are many colourful walls throughout Barranco.Vibrant and colourful shops

There are a lot of well preserved vintage VW’s on the streets.I’m not sure if I’ve seen a Lada before. But I am now. This old street car is in retirement.A pretty view from here.

This lovely mosaic leads down to Playa Barranco. There is a beautiful greenspace along the cliff top with amazing views.Lima can be shrouded in mist as the cold Humbolt current sweeps past this equatorial land.I’m sure the view is spectacular, however I don’t think I would sleep well

Sintra

Cinco. Our B&B in Sintra.

A lovely evening on the terrace of our little cottage. The view towards the west. The Atlantic in the far distance.

Street Scenes Around Old Sintra

A living statue was entertaining us tourists.
And frightening some.
Black swallows are a thing In Portugal.
The beautifully cobble stoned side walks can be slippery. The stone must be very hard and is polished from so many years of wear.
Lots of cool shops to explore.
The floor in this shop is made with old broken tiles.
And it had this huge doll house.
Rooms of the doll house.

Good food is down every alley.

Our first view of the Castelo dos Mouros on the hill above Sintra. The Castle of the Moors was built by the Moors in the 8th and 9th centuries. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Fonte dos Pisoes. One of the 20 public fountains in Sintra.
It is so fun exploring all the little alleys
Tile work is everywhere.

Beautiful old buildings are everywhere.
Here is a unique door knob.
Had our first Portuguese dining experience at Tulhas. A short walk from Cinco.
We sat by the cork wishing well. Make a wish and toss the cork from your wine bottle into the well.
